YUZGAT , the See also:

chief See also:town of a sanjak of the same name in the See also:Angora vilayet of See also:Asia See also:Minor, See also:altitude 4380 ft., situated 105 M. E. of Angora, near the See also:head of a narrow valley through which the Angora-See also:Sivas road runs. The town was built largely out of the ruins of Nefez Keui (anc. Tavium), by Chapan Oghlu, the founder of a powerful Pere See also:Bey See also:family. There is a See also:trade in yellow berries and See also:mohair. The sanjak is very fertile, and contains See also:good breeding-grounds, upon which horses, camels and See also:cattle are reared. The See also:population, about 15,000, includes a large Armenian community.
