SIVAS , one of the largest and most important vilayets of See also:

Asia See also:Minor, lying between 38° 30' and 41° N. and 35° 30' and 39° E. It is See also:rich in See also:mineral See also:wealthSee also:silver, See also:lead, See also:copper, See also:iron, See also:manganese, See also:arsenic, See also:alum, See also:salt and See also:coal; and has several hot and See also:cold mineral springs, and large forests of See also:fir, See also:pine, See also:beech and See also:oak. The See also:climate is See also:good, the See also:average See also:elevation of the See also:province being over 3500 ft., and the See also:soil fertile. See also:Wheat and See also:barley are largely grown on the See also:plateau, and in the See also:lower districts there are extensive See also:fruit orchards and vineyards. The See also:port of the vilayet is See also:Samsun (q.v.), whence a chaussee runs through See also:Amasia, See also:Tokat, and Sivas to See also:Kharput; but Sivas is also connected by road with the minor See also:Black See also:Sea ports, Unieh, Ordu and See also:Kerasund. The rates for transport are, however, prohibitive. See also:Angora is the nearest railway point.
