     Magnum Opus Hermetic Sourceworks Series
This series of limited edition hand-bound books by Adam McLean were initially produced between 1979 and 1986. They were never sold through book dealers, but only by direct mail order. Consequently, these books became collectors items, often fetching high prices on the second-hand market. Only a few copies remain of some of the older titles in this series and a number are now entirely sold out. Since 1997 fifteen new titles have been issued with more in preparation.

No. 38. The Allegory of Palombara
Translated by Gleb Butuzov
Massimiliano Savelli Palombara (1614-1680), Marquis of Pietraforte, came from a long established Italian aristocratic family. He was a deeply cultured individual and entertained such major intellectuals of his time as Athanasius Kircher, the astronomer Giovanni Domenico Cassini, Alfonso Borelli, and even the notorious Francesco Giuseppe Borri. He had an especial interest in alchemy and created an engaging allegory which he later presented to Queen Christina of Sweden.

Limited edition of 200 signed and numbered hardbound copies. 10 coloured illustrations. A5. 56 pages.
