ALEXIS GUIGNARD , See also:comte de See also:Saint See also:Priest (1805-1851), was the son of Armand de Saint Priest and Princess Galitzin. Educated in See also:Russia, he returned to See also:France with his See also:father in 1822, and soon made his See also:mark in See also:literary circles. His most important See also:works were Histoire de la royaute conside'ree See also:dens ses origins jusqu'd la formation See also:des principales monarchies de l'See also:Europe (2 vols., 1842) ; Histoire de la chute des Jesuites (1844); Histoire de la conquete de See also:Naples (4 vols.,1847-1848). He was elected to the See also:Academy in See also:January 1849. Meanwhile he had departed from the legitimist tradition of his See also:family to become a warm friend to the See also:Orleans See also:monarchy, which he served between 1833 and 1838 as See also:ambassador in See also:Brazil, at See also:Lisbon and at See also:Copenhagen. He died, while on a visit to See also:Moscow, on the 29th of See also:September 1851.
