AUNT SALLY , the See also:

It consists in throwing hard balls, of See also:wood or See also:leather-covered See also:yarn, at puppets dressed to represent different characters, originally a See also:grotesque See also:female figure called " Aunt Sally," with the See also:object of smashing a See also:clay See also:pipe which is inserted either in the mouth or forehead of the puppet. In See also:France the game is popular under the name jeu de See also:massacre. In a variation of the pastime the See also:mark consists of a living See also:person's See also:head thrust through a hole in a See also:sheet of See also:canvas.
