BARFLEUR , a small seaport of See also:

north-western See also:France, over-looking the See also:Bay of the See also:Seine, in the See also:department of See also:Manche, 222 M. N.N.E. of Valognes by See also:rail. Pop. (1906) 1069. In the See also:middle ages Barfleur was one of the See also:chief ports of embarkation for See also:England. In 1120 the " See also:White See also:Ship," carrying See also:Prince See also:William, only son of See also:Henry I., went down outside the See also:harbour. About 2 M. to the north is Cape Barfleur, with a lighthouse 233 ft. high.
