BELLEY , a See also:town of eastern See also:France, See also:capital of an See also:arrondissement in the See also:department of See also:Ain, 52 M. S.E. of Bourg by the See also:Paris-See also:Lyon railway. Pop. (1906), town, 3709; See also:commune, 5707. It is situated on See also:vine-covered hills at the southernextremity of the See also:Jura, 3 M. from the right See also:bank of the See also:Rhone. Apart from the See also:cathedral of St See also:Jean, which, with the exception of the See also:choir of 1413, is a See also:modern See also:building, there is little of architectural See also:interest in the town. Belley is the seat of a bishopric and a See also:prefect, and has a tribunal of first instance.
