BRUA , a See also:

town of Bohemia, See also:Austria, 93 m. N.N.W. of See also:Prague by See also:rail. Pop. (190o) 21,525. It is dominated by the Schlossberg (1307 ft.), on which is situated the ruins of an old See also:castle, demolished in 1651, and possesses a very interesting See also:church, in See also:late-See also:Gothic See also:style, built in 1517. Brux is situated in the centre of a region very See also:rich in See also:lignite deposits and has, besides, important See also:sugar, See also:iron and hardware, distilling, See also:brewing and milling See also:industries. To the See also:south of Brux are the villages of Pullna, Seidlitz and Seidschutz with well-known saline springs. Briix is mentioned in documents of the See also:early 11th See also:century. It See also:fell to the See also:crown under Pl'emysl I. or See also:Wenceslaus II. and was made a royal See also:city by Ottakar II. in the 13th century. See also:convention and brought him the Democratic nomination for In 1421 the See also:Hussites were defeated here by See also:King See also:Sigismund the See also:presidency on the following See also:day.
