borough of See also:Allegheny See also:county, See also:Pennsylvania, U.S.A., 6 m. S.W. of See also:Pittsburg. Pop. (1900) 7330 (1816 being See also:foreign-See also:born); (1910) 10,009. It is served by the Pittsburg, See also:Cincinnati, See also:Chicago & St See also:Louis, the Pittsburg, Chartiers & Youghiogheny, and the See also:Wabash Pittsburg Terminal See also:railways, and the Pittsburg See also:street railway. Carnegie is situated in the beautiful valley of Chartiers See also:Creek, and is in one of the See also:coal and natural See also:gas districts of the See also:state. In the borough are a Carnegie library and St See also:Paul's See also:orphan See also:asylum. Among the borough's manufactures are See also:steel, See also:lead, See also:glass, ploughs and See also:enamel- and See also:tin-See also:ware. There are alkaline and lithia See also:mineral springs here. In 1894 Carnegie, named in See also:honour of See also:Andrew Carnegie, was formed by the See also:union of the boroughs Chartiers and See also:Mansfield.
