CYLLENE (mod. Ziria) , a See also:mountain in See also:Greece, in the N.E. of See also:Arcadia (7789 ft.). It was specially sacred to See also:Hermes, who was See also:born in a See also:cave on the mountain, and had a See also:temple and an See also:ancient statue on its See also:summit. The name Cyllene belongs also to an ancient See also:port See also:town in See also:Elis, and, owing to doubtful See also:identification with this, to a See also:modern port at Glarentza, and also to some See also:mineral See also:baths a little to the See also:south of it.
