DOLHAIN , the most eastern See also:

town of See also:Belgium, situated on the Vesdre, N. E. of See also:Verviers and See also:close to the Prussian frontier. Pop. (1904) 4757• It is quite a See also:modern town, occupying the site of the See also:lower town of the See also:ancient See also:city of See also:Limburg, which was destroyed by See also:Louis XIV. in 1675. On a rocky See also:eminence above Dolhain are still to be seen the See also:fine ruins of the old See also:castle of Limburg, the See also:cradle of the ancient See also:family of that name from which sprang the See also:Luxemburg family and several emperors of See also:Germany. The See also:Gothic See also:church of St See also:George of the 13th See also:century has been restored. At a See also:short distance from Dolhain is the"famous See also:dam of the Gileppe, the vast See also:reservoir constructed to See also:supply Verviers with See also:water See also:free from See also:lime for its See also:cloth manufactures. The See also:aqueduct from Gileppe to Verviers is nearly 51 m. in length.
