ELATERITE , also termed ELASTIC See also:

BITUMEN and See also:MINERAL CAOUTCxouc, a mineral See also:hydrocarbon, which occurs at See also:Castleton in See also:Derbyshire, in the See also:lead mines of See also:Odin and elsewhere. It varies somewhat in consistency, being sometimes soft, elastic and sticky; often closely resembling See also:india-See also:rubber; and occasion-ally hard and brittle. It is usually dark See also:brown in See also:colour and slightly translucent. A substance of similar See also:physical See also:character is found in the Coorong See also:district of See also:South See also:Australia, and is hence termed coorongite, but Prof. See also:Ralph See also:Tate considers this to be a See also:vegetable product.
