FINSTERWALDE , a See also:

town of See also:Germany, in the See also:kingdom of See also:Prussia, on the Schackebach; a tributary of the Little See also:Elster, 28 m. W.S.W. of See also:Cottbus by See also:rail. Pop. (1905) 10,726. The town has a See also:Gothic See also:church (1581), a See also:chateau, See also:schools, See also:cloth and See also:cigar factories, See also:iron-foundries, See also:flour and saw See also:mills and factories for See also:machine See also:building. The town, which is first mentioned in 1288, came into the See also:possession of electoral See also:Saxony in 1635 and of Prussia in 1815.
