As a See also:young See also:man he fought against the See also:Turks and the pirates, and after signally distinguishing himself at the See also:battle of See also:Naxos in 165o he was appointed See also:commander-inchief of the Venetian See also:navy. He then conducted a See also:series of successful See also:campaigns against the Turks, but was recalled in consequence of the intrigues of his See also:rival the Provveditore See also:Antonio See also:Barbaro (1661). But when See also:Candia was attacked by a large force, under the terrible vizir Keuprili, Morosini was sent to relieve the fortress in 1667; the See also:siege lasted eighteen months, but Morosini, in spite of his prodigies of valour, was forced to surrender to See also:save the surviving inhabitants. He was tried, but acquitted of all blame, and on the renewal of the See also:war with the See also:Turkish See also:Empire in 1684 he was again appointed commanderin-See also:chief, and after several brilliant victories he reconquered the See also:Peloponnesus and See also:Athens; on his return to See also:Venice he was loaded with honours and given the See also:title of " Peloponnesiaco." In 1688 he was elected See also:doge, and in 1693 he took command of the Venetian forces against the Turks for the See also:fourth time; the enemy which had been cruising in the See also:archipelago withdrew at his approach, so See also:great was the terror inspired by his name. While wintering at Napoli di Romania (See also:Nauplia) he died on the 6th of See also:January 1694.
