After studying See also:theology at See also:Zurich he became a pastor in 1817 and returned as teacher to his native See also:town, where he lived for ten years.' He was then appointed See also:professor of the See also:German See also:language and literature in the cantonal school at Aarau, which See also:post he lost, however, in the See also:political quarrels of 183o. He afterwards obtained the post of teacher and See also:rector of the cantonal See also:college, and was also appointed assistant See also:minister at the See also:parish See also:church. He died at See also:Baden in Aargau on theist of See also:December 1865. An edition of his collected works, in 5 vols., was published at See also:Frauenfeld in 1853. Frohlich is best known for his two heroic poems, Ulrich Zwingli and Ulrich von Hutten, and especially for his fables, which have been ranked with those of See also:Hagedorn, See also:Lessing and See also:Gellert. See the See also:Life by R. Fasi (Zurich, 1907).
