HARIANA , a See also:

During the troubled See also:period which followed on the decline of the See also:Mogul See also:empire, Hariana formed the battlefield where the See also:Mahrattas, Bhattis and Sikhs met to See also:settle their territorial quarrels. The whole country was devastated by the See also:famine of 1783. In 1797—1798 Hariana was overrun by the famous Irish adventurer See also:George See also:Thomas, who established his capital at See also:Hansi; in 18or he was dispossessed by Sindhia's See also:French See also:general See also:Perron; in 1803 Hariana passed under See also:British See also:rule.
