HEILSBERG , a See also:

town of See also:Germany, in the See also:province of See also:East See also:Prussia, at the junction of the Simser and Alle, 38 m. S. of See also:Konigsberg. Pop. (1905), 6042. It has an Evangelical and a See also:Roman See also:Catholic See also:church, and an old See also:castle formerly the seat of the See also:prince-bishops of See also:Ermeland, but now used as an infirmary. The See also:principal See also:industries are tanning, See also:dyeing and See also:brewing, and there is considerable See also:trade in See also:grain. The castle founded. at Heilsberg by the See also:Teutonic See also:order in 1240 became in 1306 the seat of the bishops of Ermeland, an See also:honour which it retained for 500 years. On the loth of See also:June 1807 a See also:battle took See also:place at Heilsberg between the See also:French under See also:Soult and See also:Murat, and the Russians and Prussians under See also:Bennigsen.
