It is one of the See also:oldest and finest cities of See also:Poland, is the seat of a See also:Roman See also:Catholic See also:bishop, and possesses a See also:castle, a teachers' See also:institute and a large public See also:park. The See also:industrial establishments comprise a brewery, and factories for See also:ribbons, See also:cloth and See also:sugar, and tanneries. Kalisz is identified with the Calisia of See also:Ptolemy, and its antiquity is indicated by the abundance of coins and other See also:objects of See also:ancient See also:art which have been discovered on the site, as well as by the numerous See also:burial mounds existing in the vicinity.
