KEWANEE , a See also:

city of See also:Henry See also:county, See also:Illinois, U.S.A., in the N. W. See also:part of the See also:state, about 55 M. N. by W. of See also:Peoria. Pop. (1900), 8382, of whom 2006 were See also:foreign-See also:born; (1910 See also:census), 9307. It is served by the See also:Chicago See also:Burlington & See also:Quincy railroad and by the See also:Galesburg & Kewanee Electric railway. Among its manufactures are foundry and See also:machine-See also:shop products, boilers, carriages and wagons, agricultural implements, See also:pipe and fittings, working-men's gloves, &c. In 1905 the See also:total factory product was valued at $6,729,381, or 6r.5% more than in 1900. Kewanee was settled in 1836 by See also:people from See also:Wethersfield, See also:Connecticut, and was first chartered as a city in 1897.
