See also:KJERULF, THEODOR (1825-1888) , See also:Norwegian geologist, was See also:born at See also:Christiania on the 3oth of See also:March 1825. He was educated in the university at Christiania, and subsequently studied at See also:Heidelberg, working in See also:Bunsen's laboratory. In 1858 he became See also:professor of See also:geology in the university of his native See also:city, and he was afterwards placed in See also:charge of the See also:geological survey of the See also:country, then established mainly through his See also:influence. His contributions to the geology of See also:Norway were numerous and important, especially in reference to the See also:southern portion of the country, and to the structure and relations of the Archaean and Palaeozoic rocks, and the glacial phenomena. His See also:principal results were embodied in his See also:work Udsigt over del sydlige Nor ges Geologi (1879). He was author also of some poetical See also:works. He died at Christiania on the 25th of See also:October 1888.
