LANDEN , a See also:

It is the birthplace of the first See also:Pippin, distinguished as Pippin of Landen from his See also:grandson Pippin of See also:Herstal. In 1693 the See also:French under See also:Marshal See also:Luxemburg defeated here the Anglo-Dutch See also:army under See also:William III. This See also:battle is also called See also:Neerwinden from a See also:village 3 M. W. of Landen. Here in 1793 the Austrians under See also:Frederick of See also:Saxe-See also:Coburg and See also:Clerfayt defeated the French under See also:Dumouriez.
