MONTMORENCY , a See also:

town of See also:northern See also:France in the See also:department of See also:Seine-et-See also:Oise, 22 M. from the right See also:bank of the Seine and 11 m. N. of See also:Paris by See also:rail. Pop. (1906), 5723. In the See also:middle ages it was the seat of the See also:family of Montmorency. There is a See also:church built for the most See also:part in the 16th See also:century by See also:Anne de Montmorency. The town is a well-known resort of Parisians. To the See also:north-See also:east lies the See also:fine See also:forest of Montmorency. See also:Bleaching and See also:dyeing and the manufacture of See also:lime See also:plaster, bricks and tiles are carried on. About a mile See also:south-See also:west lies See also:Enghien-See also:les-Bains (pop. 4925), the See also:waters of which are used in cases of See also:catarrh and skin disease.
