MORATALLA , a See also:

town of eastern See also:Spain, in the See also:province of See also:Murcia, 40 M. W.N.W. of the See also:city of Murcia. Pop. (1900), 12,689. Moratalla is' built on a mountainous See also:peninsula, almost surrounded by the Grande and Benamor, small See also:rivers which meet and flow eastward to join the See also:Segura. The town is a See also:labyrinth of narrow, crooked streets, and some of its houses are Moorish in See also:character. Its See also:chief buildings are the See also:modern See also:hospital and See also:theatre, and the 17th-See also:century See also:church. It has manufactures of coarse See also:cloth, See also:spirits and See also:soap. The nearest railway station is Calasparra, 6 m. See also:east, on the Murcia-See also:Albacete railway.
