(1890) 5083; (1900) 5954, of whom 1559 Were See also:foreign-See also:born; (1905) 6o47; (TOO) 5734. It is served by the See also:Chicago & See also:North-Western, the Chicago, Milwaukee & St See also:Paul, and the Milwaukee, St Paul & Sault Ste See also:Marie See also:railways, by two interurban electric railways, and by steamboat lines on the lake and on the See also:Fox See also:river, which flows out of Lake Winnebago at this point. Several See also:bridges connect it with See also:Menasha, on the opposite See also:side of the river, and the two cities See also:form one See also:industrial community. Doty See also:Island, at the mouth of the river, belongs partly to Neenah and partly to Menasha. Neenah is a See also:trade centre of the surrounding agricultural region, in which dairying, especially See also:cheese-making, is carried on extensively. The Fox river (with a fall of 12 ft.) furnishes See also:good See also:water-See also:power for the manufactories. There was a trading See also:post at or near the site of Neenah during the See also:French regime in Wisconsin, but there was no actual See also:settlement until well into the 19th See also:century.
