city of See also:Athens See also:county, See also:Ohio, U.S.A., on the Hocking See also:river, 62 m. S.E. of See also:Columbus. Pop.(189o) 4558,(1900) 5421, including 328 See also:foreign-See also:born and 204 negroes; (1910) 6082. Nelsonville is served by the Hocking Valley railway. The city is in one of the most productive See also:coal sections of the See also:state; there are large quantities of See also:clay in the vicinity; and the See also:principal See also:industries are the See also:mining and See also:shipping of coal and the manufacture of See also:fire-clay products. Nelsonville was settled in 1818 and was incorporated in 1838; it was named in See also:honour of See also:Elisha See also:Nelson, who built the first See also:house here.
