Eufemia, a station on the See also:line along the See also:General See also:Medina and other See also:officers were tried by a Nicaraguan See also:court-See also:martial for the See also:murder of See also:Grace and See also:Cannon, but were acquitted on the 28th of See also:January 1910. - See also:west See also:coast from See also:Naples to Reggio di Calabria. Pop. (19o1) 13,671 (town), 18,15o (See also:commune). It is situated on the See also:isthmus between the gulfs of S Eufemia and of Squillace, the narrowest See also:part of Calabria, 970 ft. above See also:sea-level, and commands a See also:fine view. The ruined See also:castle served as the See also:place of imprisonment of See also:Frederick II.'s son See also:Henry. The place suffered greatly from the See also:earthquake of 1638, which also destroyed the See also:Benedictine See also:abbey of S Eufemia, founded by See also:Robert Guiscard.
