NICOMEDES I ., son of Zipoetes, See also:

king of See also:Bithynia (c. 278-248 B.c.). He made himself See also:master of the whole See also:country and put to See also:death his See also:brother, who had set himself up as an See also:independent ruler. He enlarged and consolidated the See also:kingdom, founded the See also:great See also:city of See also:Nicomedia as the See also:capital, and fought successfully for some See also:time with See also:Antiochus of See also:Syria. His reign seems to have been prosperous and uneventful; the See also:year of his death is uncertain. See also:Livy xxxviii. 16; See also:Justin See also:xxv. 2; See also:Memnon in C.
