OVAR , a See also:

town of See also:Portugal, in the See also:district of See also:Aveiro and at the See also:northern extremity of. the See also:Lagoon of Aveiro (q.v.); 21 M. S. of See also:Oporto by the See also:Lisbon-Oporto railway. Pop. (1900) 10,462. Ovar is the centre of important See also:fisheries and has some See also:trade in See also:wine and See also:timber. It is visited by small See also:coasting vessels which ply to and from See also:north-See also:west See also:Africa. See also:Millet, See also:wheat and vegetables —especially onions—are the See also:chief products of the See also:low-lying and unhealthy region, in which Ovar is situated.
