SUTTON , an See also:

urban See also:district in the See also:Epsom See also:parliamentary See also:division of See also:Surrey, See also:England, 11 m. S. of See also:London by the London See also:Brighton & See also:South See also:Coast railway. Pop. (1891), 13,977; (1901), 17,223. It is pleasantly situated at the edge of the See also:Downs, and is in favour as an See also:outer residential district of London. The See also:manor, according to Domesday, belonged to the See also:abbey of See also:Chertsey at the See also:Conquest and continued so until the See also:dissolution of the monasteries by See also:Henry VIII.
