WOLGAST , a seaport See also:

town of See also:Germany, in the Prussian See also:province of See also:Pomerania, situated on the See also:river Peene, which separates it from the See also:island of See also:Usedom, 30 M. by See also:rail E. of Greifswald. Pop. (1905) 8346. There are various manufactures. Wolgast became a town in 1247, and after being the See also:residence of the See also:duke of Pomerania-Wolgast, it was ceded to See also:Sweden in 1648. It was captured four times during the See also:Thirty Years' See also:War, and in 1675 by See also:Frederick See also:William, elector of See also:Brandenburg. It was restored to Germany in 1815.
