It lies near the See also:head of a See also:lagoon called See also:Lake See also:King, which is open to the See also:sea, and affords See also:regular communication by See also:water with Melbourne. In the See also:district, which is chiefly See also:pastoral, there are several goldfields, with both alluvial and See also:reef See also:mining. The town has tanneries, and See also:cheese and See also:butter factories. There is an active See also:shipping See also:trade with Melbourne in See also:maize and other See also:grain, hops, See also:fruit and See also:dairy produce.
