After studying at the See also:universities of See also:Marburg, See also:Giessen and See also:Strassburg, he visited See also:France, where he remained for three years. He returned to Strassburg in 1637, and in 1642 was appointed See also:professor of eloquence at See also:Upsala. In 1647 he was summoned by See also:Queen See also:Christina to See also:Stockholm as See also:court librarian and historiographer. In 165o he resumed his professor-See also:ship at Upsala, but See also:early in the following See also:year he was obliged to resign on See also:account of See also:ill-See also:health. In 1656 he became honorary professor at See also:Heidelberg, and died on the 31st of See also:August 166o. Freinsheim's See also:literary activity was chiefly devoted to the See also:Roman historians. He first introduced the See also:division into chapters and paragraphs, and by means of carefully compiled indexes illustrated the lexical peculiarities of each author. He is best known for his famous supplements to See also:Quintus See also:Curtius and See also:Livy, containing the missing books written by himself.
