FURSTENWALDE , a See also:

town of See also:Germany, in the Prussian See also:province of See also:Brandenburg, on the right See also:bank of the See also:Spree, and on the railway from See also:Berlin to See also:Frankfort-on-See also:Oder, 28 m. E. of the former See also:city. Pop. (1905) 20,498. Its beautiful See also:cathedral See also:church contains several old monuments. The See also:industries are important, including, besides See also:brewing and malting, manufactures of See also:starch, See also:vinegar, electric lamps and See also:gas-fittings, stoves, &c., See also:iron-See also:founding and See also:wool-See also:weaving. Furstenwalde is one of the See also:oldest towns of Brandenburg. From 1385 it was the seat of the See also:bishop of Lebus, whose bishopric was incorporated with the electorate of See also:Brunswick in 1595.
