During the latter See also:part of the See also:War of See also:Independence (1824–1827) he accompanied See also:Capo d'See also:Istria to See also:Greece, and was appointed by him See also:minister of war. When Capo d'Istria was murdered in 1831 Metaxas became a member of the provisional See also:government which held See also:office till the See also:accession of See also:King See also:Otho in 1833. During the minority of Otho he was named privy councillor and minister at See also:Madrid and See also:Lisbon. In 184o he was recalled and appointed minister of war. In 1843-1844 he was See also:president of the See also:council of ministers, and he subsequently held the See also:post of See also:ambassador at See also:Constantinople from 185o to 1854. He died at See also:Athens on the 19th of See also:September 186o.
