NECKARGEMUND , a See also:

town and See also:climatic See also:health resort of See also:Germany, in the See also:grand duchy of See also:Baden, situated amid densely wooded hills, on the See also:left See also:bank of the See also:Neckar, 6 m. E. from See also:Heidelberg by the railway to Wtirzburg and at the junction of a See also:line to Jagstfeld. Pop. (1905) 2200. It has an important See also:trade in See also:wine. The other See also:industries are See also:quarrying, tanning and See also:shipbuilding, and there are See also:electrical See also:works. Neckargemund, one of the favourite tourist resorts in the Neckar valley, was founded in the loth See also:century and became a See also:free town in 1286. In 1395 it passed to the elector See also:palatine and, together with the surrounding See also:district, was apportioned to Baden in 18'4.
