NEVYANSK, NEVYANSKIY Or NEYYANSKIY ZAVOD, a See also:town of See also:Russia, in the See also:government of See also:Perm, 57 M. by See also:rail N.N.W. of See also:Ekaterinburg, on the eastern slope of the Ural mountians, in the populous See also:mountain valley of the Neyva, in a See also:district very See also:rich in See also:iron and auriferous sands. Pop. (1881) 13,980;(1897) about 16,000, all See also:Great-Russians and mostly Nonconformists, who are employed, partly at the iron-See also:works, partly in various small See also:industries, such as the manufacture of boxes, widely sold in See also:Siberia, iron wares and boots, and partly in See also:agriculture. The iron-works at Nevyansk are the See also:oldest in the Urals, having been founded in 1699. In 1702 See also:Peter the Great presented them to See also:Demidov, with 3,900,000 acres of See also:land. Several other iron-works are situated within a See also:short distance, the See also:chief being Verkhne-Neyvinsk, 18 m. S.; Neyvo-Rudyansk, 8 m. S.; Petrokamensk, 32 M. N.E.; Neyvo-Shaitansk, 20 M. See also:lower down the Neyva; and Neyvo-Alapayevsk, 64 m. N.E. of Nevyansk.
