Brown University. In 1804 he became See also:president of See also:Union See also:College, See also:Schenectady, New See also:York, a position which he held till his See also:death on the 29th of See also:January 1866. He found the collegefinancially embarrassed, but succeeded in placing it on a See also:sound footing. He was known also as the inventor of the first See also:stove for See also:anthracite See also:coal. His publications include sermons, Counsels to See also:Young Men (18ro), and Lectures on See also:Temperance (1847).
