OEHRINGEN , a See also:

town of See also:Germany, in the See also:kingdom of See also:Wurttemberg, agreeably situated in a fertile See also:country, on the Ohrn, 12 M. E. from See also:Heilbronn by the See also:railways to See also:Hall and Crailsheir. Pop. (1905) 3,450. It is a See also:quaint See also:medieval See also:place, and, among its See also:ancient buildings, boasts a See also:fine Evangelical See also:church, containing carvings in See also:cedar-See also:wood of the 15th See also:century and numerous interesting tombs and monuments; a See also:Renaissance town hall; the See also:building, now used as a library, which formerly belonged to a monastery, erected in 1034; and a See also:palace, the See also:residence of the princes of See also:Hohenlohe-Oehringen. Oehringen is the Vicus Aurelii of the See also:Romans. Eastwards of it ran the old See also:Roman frontier See also:wall, and numerous remains and See also:inscriptions dating from the days of the Roman See also:settlement have been recently discovered, including traces of three camps. See See also:Keller, Vicus Aurelii, See also:oder Ohringen zur Zeit der Romer (See also:Bonn, 1872).
