OTTO See also:DEVRIENT (1838-1894) , another actor, See also:born in See also:Berlin on the 3rd of See also:October 1838, was the son of Philipp Eduard Devrient. He joined the See also:stage in 1856 at See also:Karlsruhe, and acted successively in See also:Stuttgart, Berlin and See also:Leipzig, until he received a fixed See also:appointment at Karlsruhe, in 1863. In 1873 he became stage manager at See also:Weimar, where he gained See also:great praise for his mire en See also:scene of See also:Goethe's See also:Faust. After being manager of the theatres in See also:Mannheim and See also:Frankfort he retired to See also:Jena, where in 1883 he was given the honorary degree of See also:doctor of See also:philosophy. In 1884 he was. appointed director of the See also:court See also:theatre in See also:Oldenburg, andin 1889 director of dramatic plays in Berlin. He died at See also:Stettin on the 23rd of See also:June 1894.
