He was See also:present at the See also:siege of See also:Bharatpur, and in 1818 was granted a jagir yielding Rs. 20,000 a See also:year, appointed See also:lieutenant-colonel in the British service and made C.B. He had an intimate knowledge of the See also:character of the natives of India, and his See also:advice was highly valued by successive See also:governor-generals and See also:corn--See also:SKIPPON manders-in-See also:chief. He died at See also:Hansi on the 4th of See also:December 1841, and was buried in a See also:church at See also:Delhi which is called after his name. See J.
