To See also:mineralogy he was likewise attracted, and he was one of the founders of the See also:Geological Society of See also:London, 18o7, and honorary secretary, 1812-1817. To the transactions of that society he contributed papers on the Wrekin and the See also:Shropshire coalfield, &c. Later he became secretary of the Society of Arts, and in 1841 treasurer of the Chemical Society. In See also:early See also:life he had been for a See also:short See also:time a Unitarian See also:minister. He was highly esteemed as a See also:man of See also:sound See also:judgment and wide knowledge. He died in London on the 15th of See also:April 1854.
