E.S.E. of See also:Orleans by See also:rail. Pop. (1906) 6325. Gien is a picturesque and interesting town and has many curious old houses. The Loire is here crossed by a See also:stone See also:bridge of twelve See also:arches, built by See also:Anne de See also:Beaujeu, daughter of See also:Louis XI., about the end of the 15th See also:century. Near it stands a statue of Vercingetorix. The See also:principal See also:building is the old See also:castle used as a See also:law-See also:court, constructed of See also:brick and stone arranged in geometrical patterns, and built in 1494 by Anne de Beaujeu. The See also:church of St See also:Pierre possesses a square See also:tower dating from the end of the 15th century. See also:Porcelain is manufactured.
