Hasseiquist resolved to undertake a See also:journey to that See also:country, and a sufficient subscription having been obtained to defray expenses, he reached See also:Smyrna towards the end of 1949. He visited parts of See also:Asia See also:Minor, See also:Egypt, See also:Cyprus and Palestine, making large natural history collections, but his constitution, naturally weak, gave way under the fatigues of travel, and he died near Smyrna on the 9th of See also:February 1752 on his way hoR1e. His collections reached See also:home in safety, and five years after his See also:death his notes were published by Linnaeus under the See also:title Resa till Heliga Landet forattad frdn eir 1749 till 1752, which was translated into See also:French and See also:German in 1762 and into See also:English in 1766.
