From 1816 to 1822 he was See also:tutor to the See also:young princes See also:William See also:Frederick and See also:Charles. He died in Berlin on the loth of See also:August 1846. He devoted his See also:life chiefly to the examination of See also:ancient systems of See also:chronology. In 1825–1826 he published his See also:great See also:work, Handbuch der mathematischen and technischen Chronologie (2 vols.; 2nd ed., 1883), re-edited as Lekrbuch der Chronologie (1831); a supplementary See also:volume, See also:Die Zeitrechnung der Chinesen, appeared in 1839. Beside these important See also:works he wrote also Untersuchungen fiber d. Ursprung and d. Bedeutung d. Sternnamen (r8og) and Uber d. Ursprung d. Thierkreises (1838).

With Nolte he published handbooks on See also:

English and See also:French See also:language and literature. His son, See also:Junius LUDWIG IDELER (18o9-1842), wrote Meteorologia veterum Graecorum et Romanorum (1832).
