LECH , a See also:town in the See also:kingdom of See also:Bavaria, on the See also:river Lech, 38 m. by See also:rail W. by S. of See also:Munich. Pop. (1905) 6505. It has eight See also:Roman See also:Catholic churches, among them the Liebfrauen Kirche dating from 1498, several monasteries, and a See also:fine See also:medieval town-See also:hall, with frescoes by Karl von See also:Piloty and a See also:painting by See also:Hubert von Herkomer. Here also are a fine gateway, the Bayer-Tor, an agricultural and other See also:schools. See also:Brewing, tanning and the manufacture of agricultural machinery are among the See also:principal See also:industries. See Schober, Landsberg am Lech and Umgebung (1902); and Zwerger, Geschzchte Landsbergs (1889). LANDSBERG-AN-DER-See also:WARTHE, a town in the Prussian See also:province of See also:Brandenburg, at the confluence of the Warthe and the Kladow, So m. N.E. of See also:Berlin by rail. Pop. (1905) 36,934. It has important See also:engine and See also:boiler See also:works and See also:iron-foundries; there are also manufactures of See also:tobacco, See also:cloth, carriages, wools, See also:spirits, jute products and See also:leather.
