That the See also:ancient town (which is See also:close to the See also:modern) existed before the See also:Roman supremacy had extended so far is proved by the coins. It See also:lay in the 2nd Augustan region (See also:Apulia), but the See also:people belonged to the See also:Frentani by See also:race. Its strong position gave of the old Iranian stock, and there are also a few nomads of the See also:Turkish See also:Bah-See also:aria tribe which came to See also:Persia in the rith century when the province was subdued by a Turkish See also:chief. See also:Laristan remained an See also:independent See also:state under a Turkish ruler until 1602, when Shah See also:Ibrahim See also:Khan was deposed and put to See also:death by Shah `Abbas the See also:Great.

The province is subdivided into eight districts: (r) See also:

Lar, the See also:capital and environs, with 34 villages; (2) Bikhah Ihsham with I1; (3) Bikhah Fal with ro; (4) Jehangiriyeh with 30; (5) Shibkuh with 36; (6) Fumistan with 13; (7) Kauristan with 4; (8) Mazayijan with 6 villages. Lingah, with its See also:principal See also:place Bander Lingah and 11 villages. formerly a See also:part of Laristan, is now included in the " See also:Persian Gulf Ports," a See also:separate administrative See also:division. Laristan is famous for the condiment called mdhidbeh (See also:fish-jelly), a See also:compound of pounded small See also:sprat-like fish, See also:salt, See also:mustard, See also:nutmeg, See also:cloves and other spices, used as a relish with nearly all foods.
