PANA , a See also:

city of See also:Christian See also:county, See also:Illinois, U.S.A., in the central See also:part of the See also:state. Pop. (I goo) 5530 (727 being See also:foreign-See also:born); (1910) 6055. It is served by the See also:Baltimore & See also:Ohio Southwestern, the See also:Cleveland, See also:Cincinnati, See also:Chicago & St See also:Louis, the Illinois Central and the Chicago & Eastern Illinois See also:railways. It is in the Illinois See also:coal region, and coal-See also:mining is the most important See also:industry; the city is also a See also:shipping point for See also:hay and See also:grain grown in the vicinity. Pana was incorporated in 1857, and was reincorporated in 1877. Its name is said to be a corrupted See also:form of Pani " (See also:Pawnee), the name of a tribe of See also:Indians.
