He studied See also:law, first at See also:Bologna and later at See also:Pisa, and after graduating in utroque jure, practised as a lawyer in See also:Naples. He died in 1580. His See also:chief See also:literary See also:work is La Congiura dei baroni, a See also:history of the unsuccessful See also:conspiracy of the Neapolitan barons against See also:King See also:Ferdinand I. of Naples in 1485; it is based on the See also:authentic records of the See also:state trials, but is prejudiced in favour of the royal See also:power. It was first published by See also:Manutius in See also:Rome in 1565. Of Porzio's other See also:works, the Storia d'Italia (from 1547 to 1552), of which only the first two books have survived, is the most important. The best edition of these two works is that edited by C. Monzani (See also:Florence, 1855).
