The firmness and vigour with which he met all attempts at revolution were at length rewarded, and his election was confirmed in See also:March 1896 by the See also:Porte and the great See also:powers. On the loth of See also:April 1893 he married See also:Marie See also:Louise de See also:Bourbon (d. 1899), eldest daughter of See also:Duke See also:Robert of See also:Parma, and in May following the See also:Grand Sobranye confirmed the title of Royal See also:Highness to the prince and his See also:heir. The prince adhered to the See also:Roman See also:Catholic faith, but his son and heir, the See also:young Prince Boris, was received into the Orthodox See also:Greek See also:Church on the 14th of February 1896. Prince Boris, to whom the See also:tsar See also:Nicholas III. became godfather, accompanied his See also:father to Russia in 1898, when Prince Ferdinand visited St See also:Petersburg and See also:Moscow, and still further strengthened the See also:bond already existing between Russia and Bulgaria. In 1908 Ferdinand married Eleanor (b.
