Saarlouis was founded in 1681 by Louis XIV. of See also:France, and was fortified by See also:Vauban in 168o-1685. By the See also:peace of See also:Paris, in 1815, it was ceded to the See also:allies and by them was made over to See also:Prussia. The fortifications were dismantled in 1889.
